The St. Albans Cooperative Creamery, Inc. employs the one level, straight-line mode of manufacturing. The CO-OP separates milk, and processes cream, skim condensed milk and dries skim solids to powder. The ability to manufacture these three products as well as market fluid milk gives the CO-OP flexibility in meeting market demand.
The cooperative plant is Safe Quality Foods (SQF) certified, ensuring a standard of quality that is now expected in the industry. The internationally recognized program guarantees food safety and quality through training, audits, and strict protocols. Improvements were made to the plant to help maintain important equipment and limiting plant access.
The cooperative has a fully equipped laboratory which allows for daily product testing. The weighing, testing and processing of milk under one roof enables the Creamery to keep costs down, which translates into a financially strong cooperative.
